Take Proper Care Of Your Lawn In 4 Easy Steps

RH Business Marketing Solutions

Many homeowners try to tend to their lawns as they give their homes curb appeal. As a homeowner, it is important to be knowledgeable about the types of grass that grow well in your region, what type of soil you have, what type of fertilizers and pesticides are best for your lawn, and how much water your lawn needs. You should also be aware of the height at which you should mow your lawn and the best time of year to seed or sod your lawn.

Taking care of your lawn can be a real challenge. You may find that you are not able to grow grass in some areas, or that you constantly have to fight weeds. However, there are four easy steps that you can take to make sure your lawn looks great all year long.

Help your grass grow

One of the biggest challenges that lawn owners face is that they can't always have evenly growing grass. There are several reasons why this might be the case, including poor soil quality, incorrect watering habits, or a lack of fertilizer. Without the proper nutrients, your grass will not be able to grow evenly, and you may find yourself with large patches of dead grass. So the first step to having a great and lusciously green lawn is to ensure the previously mentioned conditions so it can grow properly. After some time it can become quite tall and messy, making it more challenging to mow down. To efficiently tackle this problem cut tall grass with a reel mower, it is much easier on the lawn and will give a neater appearance. Reel mowers are becoming a more popular choice for homeowners looking to take care of their lawn. Unlike gas-powered mowers, reel mowers do not rely on any type of motor and instead use a set of blades to cut the grass. Because they are powered by human muscle, reel mowers are much quieter than gas-powered mowers and are also better for the environment. Reel mowers also have the added benefit of being lightweight, which makes them easy to maneuver.

Weed control

Weeds can be a constant battle for any lawn owner. They not only steal nutrients from your grass, but they also make your lawn look unmapped and untidy. The best way to fight weeds is to prevent them from germinating in the first place. This can be done by regularly applying a pre-emergent herbicide to your lawn. If you already have weeds, you can use a post-emergent herbicide to kill them. Be sure to read the labels carefully so that you are using the right product for the type of weed that you have.

It’s easy to be eco-friendly when it comes to your lawn, as many herbicides are safe for the environment. There is no one universal product you should use, but rather different products depend on what type of weed you have and where they grow. The best way to tackle weeds is by preventing them from germinating in the first place through pre-emergent herbicides or post-emergent herbicides if you already have them. Be sure to read the labels carefully so that you know which product will work best for your needs.

Watering

Another important factor in taking care of your lawn is watering. Grass needs about 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week. You can water your lawn with a sprinkler system, a hose, or a watering can. If you water with a hose, be sure to water in the early morning so that the grass has time to dry before nightfall. Watering in the evening can cause diseases such as brown patches. If you have a sprinkler system, be sure to set it on a timer so that you don't overwater your lawn.

Fertilizing

Fertilizing your lawn is important to help it stay green and healthy. The best time to fertilize your lawn is in the fall, before the first frost. This will give your grass the nutrients it needs to survive the winter and come back strong in the spring. Be sure to use a fertilizer that is specifically designed for lawns. Using too much fertilizer can damage your grass, so be sure to follow the directions on the label.

Composting is a great way to provide your lawn with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. You can make your compost using leaves, grass clippings, and other organic materials. Be sure to mix the ingredients well and keep the compost moist. You can also add a small amount of fertilizer to the compost to help it along. The best time to add fertilizer to your compost is in the spring when you are preparing to fertilize your lawn.

Taking care of your lawn doesn't have to be difficult or time-consuming. By following these four simple steps, you can have a healthy and beautiful lawn all year long.

5 Useful Appliances to Have in Your Home Office

RH Business Marketing Solutions

The home office has become a popular option for those who wish to jump-start their careers. Those with aspirations of becoming entrepreneurs can create an effective office right at home. Having all the right equipment is crucial to making your home office run smoothly and efficiently so you can work without distractions.

1.   Paper Shredder

A paper shredder is a tool that allows you to dispose of papers and documents by cutting them into strips or fine pieces. Many businesses use them to prevent information theft and identity fraud because they cannot be easily reconstructed.

Paper shredders can be electric or hand-cranked. When it comes to security, both can do the job; however, electric ones are much quicker and easier to use if you have large amounts of documents that need disposing of. You simply insert the paper into the top, and as it runs through the blades, it is cut into small pieces or strips.

2.   Label Machine

A label machine is essentially a small device that's designed to print labels from an attached computer or from the label machine itself. Most machines come with their own software or program, which allows you to create the labels on your computer and then print them out as needed. The labels are then placed on file folders, important documents, and other items in order to keep them organized.

The process by which the label machine works depends on the type of label machine you have. A thermal printer uses heat-sensitive paper that turns black when exposed to heat, while inkjet printers use ink that sprays onto the paper in order to produce text or images on the paper itself. Other types of printers use dye that melts into the paper in order to produce text and images on your labels.

3.   Printer

A printer is a piece of external gear that converts electronic data saved on a computer or other device into a hard copy. It produces text and graphics on physical media such as paper and transparencies. All printers work differently, but each one has four main components: ink supply, ink delivery system, print heads, and media path.

The cartridge contains tiny nozzles for the ink to pass through, and the machine shoots drops of ink onto the page with such precision that it can produce millions of vivid colors. The toner powder used by laser printers works in much the same way, except that it's fused onto the paper via heat instead of drying as liquid ink.

4.   Air Conditioner/Heater

An air conditioner is a type of appliance that regulates the temperature inside a room. These devices are typically used during the summer months when temperatures get hot. Air conditioners use refrigerants to cool and circulate air throughout a room. Not only do these devices control temperatures, but they also control humidity levels by removing warm and moist air from a space.

Air conditioners use electricity and refrigerants to cool a room. Once electricity enters an air conditioner, it powers a fan that makes the device's refrigerant gas move through its coils. As the gas moves through the coils, it absorbs heat from the room's air. This process causes the gas to become cold, which allows it to cool down a room's temperature as it circulates into the room's atmosphere.

A window unit or a portable ac heater is a must-have for people who work at home. One of the best air conditioning units is an ac heater combo, which allows you to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer without having to buy multiple units.

5.   A Digital Scanner

A scanner is a device for capturing a real-world image that can be processed, stored, and transmitted on a computer. They are most commonly used for copying documents and images. A digital scanner uses a light source to illuminate an image.

The image is then reflected onto mirrors which direct the light at the photosensitive drum. The light exposes the surface of the drum and produces an electrostatic charge that varies according to the amount of light received.

The charged areas then attract toner (a powder-like substance made from carbon black), which sticks to the drum's surface. The image is then transferred to paper by pressing it against the drum and heating it so that the toner melts into the paper's fibers forming a permanent image. Scanners are useful in many different situations, but they're most often used for digitizing old images or scanning documents or magazines to save or edit on a computer.

These appliances are both functional and affordable, which makes them great choices for anyone with a home office. From air conditioning to paper shredders, each appliance serves as a helpful addition to any home office.

How to go About Fixing a Concealed Broken Pipe

RH Business Marketing Solutions

What Even Causes a Pipe to Break?

Concealed pipes have their pros and cons. One of the major criticisms addressed to concealed pipes is that when they crack or break, they cause a lot of mess around the place. In this article, we are going to first tell you about the main causes of pipe damage and then discuss the steps in fixing them. There are several reasons why your pipes might break:

• Corrosion

No matter the materials that the pipes are made from, corrosion will happen. Even with materials like copper which are more corrosion-resistant, problems will occur down the line. Black patches will form around weak points and then create pinhole leaks.

• Rust

Iron pipes will significantly deteriorate after being exposed to water and oxygen without regular maintenance.

• Backup

Your pipes can clog up if you are flushing potentially wasteful materials down the toilet. The build-up of waste occurs near a joint and it results in water leaking from the pipes.

• Freezing

When the pipes are exposed to really low temperatures, they tend to freeze and explode. This is the worst-case scenario that can happen with pipe problems.

How to Find Leaks and Burst Pipes

Surprisingly enough, when you see ice form around a pipe, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the damage is at that point of the pipe. The ice can simply be creating a blockage while the real problem occurs somewhere else, where the pipe is weakest. There are 3 ways to find the origin of the leak:

1) Look Over Exposed Pipes for Corrosion

A simple way of identifying a leak (or a potential one) is by looking at the state of the pipes. If you notice any corrosion, moisture, or mould, then it’s time for a repair to take place.

2) Look for any Signs of Water Damage

Examine the walls where your pipes are located at. See if you can notice any damage around them, once you have finished this, go back to the place where you saw the largest amount of damage done. Most of the time, this will be the spot where the leak is located at.

3) Find the Smell of Sewage

This might be an unpleasant way of finding the origin of the leak, but it is an effective one. A rotten smell of sewage that is coming from a pipe will not only tell you that you have a broken pipe, but also that it's a sewer pipe.

Possible Solutions

There are 2 ways of dealing with pipe issues:

• You can have some minor repairs take place

This usually means cutting into the wall and finding the broken pipe in question. Afterwards, you can replace the damaged part of the pipe (if it is contained in a single section of the pipe), or you can patch over the leak.

• You can replace them completely

For more severe and spread-out damages to the pipes, you will need to contact a plumber to replace them completely. This is the better option if your pipes are old and have the possibility of even more leaks or breaking down completely in the future.

The Cost of it All

The prices will vary from problem to problem. But, generally, the pricing depends on the type of pipes in question.

• Gas Pipe Replacement

When gas pipes get broken and need to be replaced, it will cost anywhere from $120 - $1,400. Generally, most homeowners pay around $500 for gas pipe replacements.

• Water Pipe Replacement

Water pipes are the most common ones that need replacing. The cost will depend on a variety of factors. Replacing/repairing water pipes usually costs around $150 - $350. If you do not know where the leak is located, you will need to pay around $100 more. Then comes the wall. Repairing the drywall (if it’s been significantly damaged) will cost you around $250 - $700. Obviously, the size and severity of the damage will impact how much it costs to repair the drywall. In the worst possible scenario, if a pipe has frozen and burst, you will need to pay anywhere from $350 to $2,100 to repair it.

• Sewer Pipe Replacement

Sewer pipes are a bit more tricky. When they leak, plumbers shouldn’t recommend small repairs (unless they want to leech you of your money). Doing a small repair will only delay the problem for a bit. The most optimal solutions are trenchless sewer repairs or conventional sewer repairs. Trenchless repairs cost around $60 - $250 per foot. The price will be influenced by how easy it is to navigate the pipe network, the state the pipes are in, and how accessible they are. Conventional repairs cost about the same. The price will really begin to increase as more and more repairs are needed, leading to a possibility of a $20,000 bill. This is why you want to have a solid foundation and high-quality house rendering, to avoid the possibility of such large-scale problems occurring down the line and costing you a small fortune.

How To Choose the Best Eco-Friendly Carpets for Your Dream House?

RH Business Marketing Solutions

When designing your dream house, you don't want to fill it with toxic materials while putting it together. But what many people don't realise is that carpets are often made out of toxic materials, and they are not the most eco-friendly things you can put in your home. If you want to be more eco-conscious in a cleaner environment, here is how you can choose the best eco-friendly carpets for your dream house.

What Is in Carpets?

The first thing that you need to know is what exactly is making the carpets not eco-friendly and toxic. Even though there are carpets that are made out of natural fibres such as wool, most carpets are made out of various synthetic fibres such as polyester, nylon and polypropylene. What makes them even worse for the environment is the fact that they get a heavy coat of latex on top of them to make them less stain prone because of all of that, they are full of dangerous chemicals such as VOCs

Why Is Carpeting Toxic?

What a lot of people don't realise is it is not talked about is the fact that new carpets have quite a few carcinogens such as toluene, acetone as well as ethylbenzene and many more. When you smell the new carpet, that is actually the 4-Phenyl Cyclohexane Is gas. That is a chemical reaction caused by adding the backing to your carpets.

Sometimes even if it seems like they are doing a useful thing, such as adding a stain or moth protector as well as flame retardants to your carpets, it is all highly toxic, especially for kids and pets. There have been some studies that have shown that there is a risk of it negatively affecting your nervous system, so choosing a non-toxic and eco-friendly carpet is really important, especially if you are planning on having kids in the future.

What Are the Most Environmentally Friendly Carpets?

Since people are more and more eco-conscious, the interest in choosing cleaner carpets is spiking. But a lot of people don't really know how to choose ones and which ones are the best. If you are looking for the best carpet, they are made with things like organic cotton, bamboo, wool as well as sisal. All these materials are more eco-friendly because they require fewer pesticides or fertilisation in order to grow. Another thing that can help you in your search for the perfect eco-friendly carpet is the green label plus certificate.

Choose The Best Natural Fibres

Choosing the best natural fires for your carpet is the most essential thing that you need to do. Luckily since the world is striving to be greener, there are a lot of companies such as the Carpet Right that will offer a good selection. Always make sure that you are choosing natural fibres that don't require any chemical treatments. Another thing that will have a big impact is choosing a water-based adhesive to install the carpet to prevent polluting the air inside your home.

Make Sure That It Is Fit for Your Desired Purpose

Another key thing to think about when choosing your carpet is ensuring that you are choosing something that will support your lifestyle. Make sure that it is able to withstand the foot traffic in that area while being comfortable underfoot. A carpet that you need to replace often is not the best solution both for your budget as well as the environment.

Take Care of The Carpet Finish

As we have mentioned, a lot of carpet finishes that companies use will contain toxic materials. But on the other hand, the carpet finish will determine how long your carpets will last. What people don't know is that there are finishes that are non-toxic as well as made from natural fires that will ensure that your carpet is water-resistant, flexible as well as odourless.

Choose Rug Pads That Are Not Toxic

Another thing people don't know is that rug pads are quite toxic too. A lot of manufacturers insist on using rug pads to prevent sliding and prolonging the carpet's life. A lot of rug pads contain toxic glues, dyes as well as chemicals. That is why you need to look for ones that don't contain any dye or toxic glues. Luckily there are quite a few that are made out of recycled materials and that are sustainable compared to rubber and plastic. That is really important thinking to choose especially if you have young kids who will spend most of their time on the floors.

As we said above, since the world is trying to be more eco-conscious, being able to find a carpet that is eco-friendly and non-toxic isn't something that will take a long time as well as not break your bank. Always strive to choose things for your new dream home that will have a low impact on the environment as well as not be a potential threat to your health.

6 Creative Decor Tips to Give Your Home a Café-Like Ambiance

RH Business Marketing Solutions

If you’re someone who likes getting their morning brew in their local coffee shop rather than making it in your own home, you should maybe think about revamping your kitchen to get a more cafe-like atmosphere. For the greatest suggestions on recreating those nostalgic, feel-good café vibes in your kitchen, we looked to the world's top cafés for inspiration. Here’s how to get started on your remodel and have the coziest kitchen in your neighborhood.

Add a countertop

Would you want to convert your kitchen into a real social hub? Line up stools along a raised countertop or island in your kitchen if you have the room. For more seating, breakfast bars are perfect for creating a cafe-like atmosphere in any area. You may also get a high table to make your kitchen reminiscent of your favorite coffee shop. Don’t forget to purchase high enough chairs so that you can comfortably reach the table or countertop. High tables and chairs can also be used on your porch while you have a barbeque day with your friends. This will create a perfect flow and cohesiveness between your kitchen and the outside entertaining area.

Have a chalkboard wall

Have you ever seen a coffee place without a chalkboard wall? We don't think so! If your main inspiration for your kitchen area are coffee shops, you can’t miss out on this piece of decor! You need doodles and scribbles on the walls in order to capture the informality and eccentricity of a coffee shop right in your own home. They’re extremely handy for jotting down to-do lists, motivational quotes, and your favorite recipes. Alternatively, you may use it to keep your kids busy while you cook! Their drawings on the wall will make your place look even more inviting and quirky. If you don’t want to transform your entire wall into a chalkboard, you can get a slate board you can easily hang.

Open shelves are the way to go

Coffee shops use open shelves to display their products, including tableware, ingredients, and other merchandise. A cafe-like vibe may be achieved in any room of the house just by arranging your glassware, books, and other personal knick-knacks in the same way. You can also use these open shelves to place some potted herbs! Not only will they aid in conveying the vibe you like, but they’ll also be a great addition to your cooking skills. If you’re not a fan of herbs, some nice succulents or cacti will also do the trick!

A perfect place for a brunch

Australians are famous for loving their weekend brunches! You can turn your kitchen into your friends’ favorite place to have a meal once you have a coffee shop-inspired breakfast table in your kitchen. If your space is smaller, a smaller desk will suffice. Don’t forget the seating though! These bentwood chairs from Adelaide will make a perfect addition to your bunching haven. They are truly a classic peace you can find in many popular cafes and will instantly provide your space with that lovely coffee shop vibe!

Think about the artwork

Cafe art tends to be informal, a bit quirky, and timeless. Think of old commercials, classic rock bands, classic automobiles, and pop-art posters. You can achieve this look by putting up a giant black-and-white print of one of your favorite vacation photos as a piece of décor. Alternatively, you may maximize the power of art. Many coffee shops display murals or wallpapers over one of their walls. This serves as a great way to brighten the place. You may think it’s unusual to decorate your accent wall with a page from your favorite comic or a map of a city you’d love to visit, but it’ll give you the vibe you’re looking for.

Get a coffee machine

What’s a coffee shop without a top-notch coffee machine? Your friends and family will probably forget about that cute local cafe once you start making them their favorite coffee-based drinks in your stylish space. Making coffee and knowing all the intricacies of different beans will be a great hobby to get into too! The smell of freshly ground coffee beans will be a perfume of yours every morning. What is there not to like?

Wrapping up

With our tips, you can have your own little coffee shop right in your home! Just make sure to follow our advice and your kitchen will transform in front of your eyes. Don’t forget about the small details such as artwork and a blackboard!

Top 10 Rental Property Plumbing Issues

RH Business Marketing Solutions

Plumbing issues constitute one of the most common tenant complaints. They may range from minor and inexpensive to catastrophic and costly. Whether big or small, if left unattended, they can be a great inconvenience that could lead to major structural damage. Unfortunately, they're not something you can cover up with bathroom updates. Thus, we will cover the top 10 rental property plumbing issues, tell you how to prevent them, and when to call a plumber.

Top 10 Plumbing Issues

  1. Clogged Drains

Clogged drains are one of the most common plumbing problems in any home. They're also a nuisance when used water refuses to empty correctly or back up into the sink. The most likely culprit is often a physical object like hair build-up or small object like a makeup lid, which blocks the normal flow. Since these items can't flow down the pipe, they obstruct draining water. The most obvious fix is to grab a plunger and loosen it with the suction. However, you can fall back on chemical drain cleaners if that doesn't work.

  1. Leaky Faucets

Aside from the annoying dripping noise, leaking faucets also means money down the drain. Irrespective of whether you or the tenant is footing the water bill, that can be a great inconvenience. Leaky faucets are often due to your washer seal degrading or shifting. Thus, you might have to replace the washer. Contact your DC property manager to schedule service for more complex fixes.

  1. Water Heater Problems

Hot water is necessary for every household, and water heater problems can act as a deterrent. Nobody enjoys getting doused by cold water when they hope for a warm shower. However, how you approach a water heater issue depends on the problem. For discolored water, the culprit is usually a build-up of mineral deposits. On the other hand, if you're battling leaking water, you have to address the pipes.

  1. Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure problems become more common as a house age. They can also be an inconvenience because it affects how easily water comes out of your faucets and showers. Low water pressure is often due to a water main break, which would affect other houses on your block. On a smaller scale, it might be because another pipe in your home is leaking, reducing the pressure on the faulty taps.

  1. Running Toilet

Similar to leaking faucets, running toilets constitutes an enormous waste of money. Although it might be tempting to disregard it if you can leave with the noise, it would still run up your utility bill. The usual culprit is a faulty flapper valve or a leak in the toilet's inner workings. A quick adjustment to some dislodged components might fix the issues, but you might have to replace some tank parts to resolve the problem completely.

  1. Dripping Hose Bibb

Hose bibbs are outdoor faucets specifically for attaching a hose or tub. If you own property in an area with harsh winters, you're more likely to have this plumbing issue. Since these fixtures are outside, they're more susceptible to the cold, which can cause cracks that inevitably lead to a leak. Thus, it would help if you considered replacing them with weather-proof hose bibbs.

  1. Sump Pump Failure

If your basement floods easily, your sump pump might be at fault. This mechanism is responsible for removing water from your basin, and when it stops working, water builds up. Sump pump failure is more common with age, so you might have to replace your old one. On the other hand, it might be as easy as unclogging your discharge pipe.

  1. Jammed Garbage Disposal

A jammed garbage disposal can hinder the removal of waste in the kitchen. The most common fix to this issue is to hit the reset button. However, if something like silverware is jamming it, you might have to open it up and remove the obstruction.

  1. Frozen Pipes

You might confuse frozen pipes for low water pressure because it also prevents water flow. However, they are more common in the winter and can eventually burst if you don't address them quickly. You could resolve the issue by applying heat to the area. But you would be better off weather-proofing your pipes.

  1. Blocked Gutters

Blocked gutters are more common after it rains because the rainwater can push twigs, debris, and trash into your pipes. As a result, this action could clog your drains and cause water to pool on your roof. That's why it's best to clean your gutters and avoid a build-up periodically.

How to Prevent Plumbing Issues

  • Conduct Regular Inspection

Regular inspections can save you from a lot of hassle down the line. A keen eye can help prevent more significant issues from a corroded pipe or sediment build-up. Besides your routine move-in and move-out inspections, you should also perform seasonal reviews of your units. During this survey, you should check for leaking faucets, ensure toilets flush properly, and examine the backflow valve. You might want to call in an expert for a more thorough job.

  • Measure the Pressure

Excess water pressure can quickly result in large-scale water damage. It's one of the easiest DIY tricks to prevent plumbing issues that can make a significant difference. Thus, it would be in your best interest to routinely measure the pressure in your pipes. Experts recommend keeping it below 60 PSI to avoid leaks. On the other hand, if the water pressure falls below 30, your tenants might have issues accessing water, so you need to strike a balance.

When to Call a Plumber

If you're set on DIY fixes, it's always best to know first what you're heading into. You could easily attempt a quick fix to your problem and make it worse. Also, when you're dealing with expensive appliances, it's best to leave it to the professionals. For example, water heaters and garbage disposals might require extensive and dangerous repair work. Thus, in our expert opinion, we recommend calling a plumber when you're not sure how to fix a problem and when it involves a major system.

Conclusion

Any of the top 10 rental property plumbing issues we've listed can cause great inconvenience to both landlords and tenants. However, DIY tips like conducting a regular inspection can help you prevent some of the worst problems. It's worth seeking the help of an experienced professional when you have a problem. They would be able to do a better job, which could save you money in the long run. Your local property manager can help you connect and monitor your plumbing services.

Best Tips on How to Act in Electrical Emergencies

RH Business Marketing Solutions

It doesn't matter where you live, what you do, and how old you are - dealing with an electrical emergency is never a fun thing to do. Even if you have all the experience in the world, being faced with such a problem will shock you and require you to think fast without making any mistakes. However, electrical emergencies can be dealt with if you know what to do, how to react, and who to turn to, so here are a few tips that might help you reach a quick solution in these situations.

Leave your home immediately

Electrical emergencies come in all shapes and some of them are simply less complex than others, which is why they're easier to deal with. But, if you're facing a very serious and potentially dangerous situation, leaving your home at once is the best way to go. Instead of waiting for your place to catch on fire, you need to go outside and wait for the help to arrive. If you don't do that immediately, you might risk getting injured and suffocated, and that's never a good outcome.

Get a friend to help you

In case your electrical emergency is a problem that's simple and easy to fix, you might ask a friend to help you. Talking to people who know more about these things than you is always better than doing things on your own and making a mistake in the process. These mistakes might not seem serious at first, but could end up becoming huge and lead to very expensive and time-consuming repairs.

Find a professional

Speaking of repairs, this is probably the safest and most sensible thing to do in an electrical emergency - finding a professional who will solve the problem for you. These people are easy to find all over the world, so just locate someone reliable in your area. If you live in Australia, for instance, checking out an electrician from Ryde might be the right move. Regardless of your emergency, these people will solve your problem and help you feel safe at your home once again.

Turn everything off

The minute you notice that something is wrong with your electrical system, you need to react and prevent things from becoming even worse. The best way to do that is to shut down all your appliances, turn everything off, and unplug them as well. This will disconnect all your valuable possessions from the electrical grid, and you won't at least risk getting them damaged and losing them as well. Another thing you can do is turn off the main power source at your home. This includes all the branches and the main circuit breaker too, and the sooner you do this the better. That way, your appliances will stay protected, and you'll be able to deal with your electrical emergency calmly and patiently.

Solve the problem yourself

In the end, there are a few things you can solve on your own, but only if you're careful and have the right tools. For example, you can take care of the wiring at your home and make sure everything's done properly. You can also inspect the switches, circuits, and other parts of the electrical system and gather all the info before notifying the professionals

Dealing with electrical emergencies is a risky thing to do, which is why you need to learn as much as you can about them before you start doing anything else. But, whether you're facing a power outage, a fallen power line, a fire, or an electrical shock, you have to be ready and react quickly!

RH Business Marketing Solutions

Kitchen Cabinets are the most preferred place by termites to spread their infestation. Since the kitchen is known as the heart of your home, protecting it from termites becomes essential.

While termites might be tiny, the damage they cause to your property is severe and thus considering an annual termite inspection can be helpful. According to a survey, we saw that the damages caused by termites cost more than 5 billion dollars in a year. If you are dealing with termites in your home and kitchen, then this article will guide you with solutions to get rid of them. However, before jumping into that, let's quickly look at identifying termites in your kitchen.

How to identify termites in Kitchen & Kitchen Cabinets

Blisters in your Wood Flooring

Have you noticed tiny bubbles in your wood material but ignored them thinking it's a minor problem with your wood? Well, there are chances that these blisters are more severe than you think, so the next time you notice them, make sure you act like you are dealing with termites.

Hollowed Or Damaged Wood in your House

Termites usually chew on wood in search of cellulose. This harms your property, and hence if you notice Hollowed or Damaged Wood in your house, it might be a sign of termites on your property.

Evidence Of Swarms

Many insects are known to move in a group, and termites are one of them. If you spot termite wings in your kitchen or nearby areas like windows or doors, it's a sign that you have termites in your house.

Swelling On the Surface of your Kitchen Cabinets

The early signs of termites in your home are indicated by swelling or small bumps on the surface of your kitchen cabinets. Sadly, if you notice such swelling, termites have attacked your kitchen.

Hollow Sound from your Kitchen Cabinets

Getting a hollow sound from your white contemporary kitchen cabinets means that termites have already spread in your kitchen. The hollow sound results from termites reaching inside the wood and eating up wood fibers. Due to this, the wood loses its strength and becomes weak, resulting in this noise when you tap on it.

Mud Tubes on your Cabinets

A mud tube is made of small pieces of soil and wood, and if you notice them in your Kitchen Cabinets, then it's a significant sign that you have termites in your house. Termites usually use these Mud Tubes to carry food from the source to their home.

Flying Termites in The Kitchen

Termites are known to come out of their colony when no food or space is left. Some of them develop wings, and these winged termites are called swarmers. This clearly shows the presence of termites in your home, and by the time you realize this, it might be late.

How to Prevent and Get Rid of Termites in your Kitchen?

Now you are aware of identifying termites in your Kitchen, but what will you do once you've caught them? Well, we have your answer. Look at the tips below to help prevent and get rid of Termites in your kitchen.

Implement Termite Control Before You Start: If you are setting up a new property, then it's recommended that you go with the termite control process before starting up. You can do this by drilling holes and using chemicals underneath your house.

Choose Termite-Resistant Woods: When you are developing your kitchen, it is recommended that you choose termite-resistant woods that help you stay safe from Termites. These woods are specially engineered and processed, making them hard for termites to feed on; however, this doesn't make the solution 100% foolproof.

Keep Pipes Clean and In Good Repair

Having plumbing problems can invite pests at your home, and hence it is recommended that you keep your pipes clean. Please ensure you get your pipes serviced every quarter to ensure they stay in perfect condition.

Design Your Kitchen to Be Sunny

When your kitchen is designed to be sunny and allows plenty of light to flow, it prevents termites from entering your house. If you’re considering Kitchen Remodeling, incorporating large windows or skylights can enhance natural light and protect your home. Hence, whenever you plan a kitchen, make sure you make some windows and doors that allow the sunlight to flow in your home.

Regular checks and Partner with a Professional

One of the best things you can do to keep your home safe is to partner up with a pest control professional who knows how to keep your home safe. We recommend that you get regular checks done and invite pest control professionals so they can spray your house with chemicals that help to keep the termites away.

Do Not Deposit Old Waste in The Kitchen

Termites feed on cellulose, and when people keep old waste like old cardboard, newspapers, and wood, it attracts termites. Hence, we recommend that you keep your kitchen clean and avoid depositing old junk in your kitchen.

Spray Boric Acid on The Affected Kitchen Cabinets

Using Boric Acid is one of the most common methods to get rid of termites. To use boric acid, you need to apply a thin white line of powder where you notice termites.

Conclusion:

Termite Infection can damage your property and also bring significant expenses for repairs. Ensure that you follow the tips mentioned above to keep your home safe from termites.
