5 Fun and Practical Tips For Moving

For you to move from your old home or apartment into a new one you must first take a lot of factors into consideration. If you make a detailed plan and stick to it, you should have no trouble with the whole process. But moving can be much more than simply lifting furniture and moving boxes from A to B, it can be a lot of fun as well. To help you have a safe and efficient move and have fun at the same time, we have singled out a couple of easy-to-follow steps.

1. How to pack your clothes

One of the most important items that we need to take care of while moving is our clothes. We are most concerned about keeping the clothes undamaged, therefore, consider placing your clothes in plastic bags along with the hangers so that you can easily take them out and store them in the wardrobe in your new home or apartment. Another great idea that will help you save more space while packing your clothes is to roll them. Make sure to explore different methods of packing your clothes the safest way possible.

2. Use smaller boxes

Believe it or not, smaller boxes can actually help you store more. Sometimes you don’t need that much space for your items. This way you won’t clog up unnecessary space in the moving truck, and unloading your items will be more efficient and practical. Don’t forget to label the boxes according to their contents, for example, paint the boxes that contain fragile items red. Don’t forget to cut out the handles so that you can carry the boxes more easily. For the safest and most efficient transportation of your possessions we recommend hiring skilful movers from the Moveage Group.

3. How to protect your fragile possessions

Another great idea for protecting your fragile possessions such as porcelain and ceramic dishes is to wrap them in old clothing that you don’t use anymore. This way you will protect them from sliding side to side in the moving truck and possibly breaking. Moreover, you can use old clothing to protect other fragile items such as vases and lamps. Another great way ofprotecting your dishes is to place a Styrofoam plate between plates while you stack them. This way the stack of plates will have stability during the transportation and they won’t get scratched.

5 Fun and Practical Tips For Moving Blog Post 4.jpg

4. Transportation of heavy items

If you have a lot of heavy items, you have to think about transportation methods that include wheels. You should consider using suitcases with wheels since they are extremely practical at transporting small but heavy items. For larger items like bookshelves and wardrobes it is best to disassemble them if possible for easier transportation. If you don’t want bookshelves and heavy furniture to ruin the floor of your new home or apartment we suggest investing, or borrowing, carts. They won’t damage your floor and will ensure a time-efficient moving process.

5. Finding the right packing supplies

Getting packaging boxes can sometimes be quite stressful and difficult. You can try asking big retailer stores for some because they receive large shipments of merchandise daily, which means that there is chance that they will be willing to part with some. Another great place to look for boxes is furniture stores. These stores can probably give you boxes of various shapes and sizes which is good if you have a lot of

As we can see it doesn't take much effort to turn a difficult moving process into a fun activity. All it takes is careful planning and patience.

What Are The Various Services Provided By Commercial Plumber?

What are the Various Services Provided by Commercial Plumber?

Be it a business owner, a restaurant manager, or commercial complex developer; a leaky tap or a clogged pipe can spell disaster and even force one to shut shop for several days, till the issue is resolved. Precaution is better than cure! Why not opt for Commercial Plumbing services that can help alleviate such worries.

What are Commercial Plumbing services?

They are companies either networked or have a dedicated team of specialist plumbers. They provide planning consultancies, installations, as well as maintenance and repairing of pipes and plumbing fixtures for residential as well as commercial offices/ complexes, etc.

Commercial Service Company vs. Local Plumber

There are a number of reasons why to opt for a Commercial service provider for your plumbing needs:

  • They are fully equipped with the right tools. Some tools are expensive, but make the job easier.

  • They have specialist plumbers, according to the nature of the requirement. Not everyone knows everything. Face it, sometimes even your handyman plumber for 15 years may not have the expertise to deal with new plumbing problem.

  • They are more organized, as they provide fixed or contractual quotations. Local Plumbers may start the service with a quote depending on the nature of the requirement.

  • They can help plan plumbing layouts or repairs efficiently, while maintaining municipal codes. Local plumbers may not be aware of many municipal codes and make violations or take risks cutting down the bill.

  • They have a fast response system to attend to emergencies. Individual plumbers may have long waiting times.

How to choose the right Commercial Plumbing Service Provider?

It is not just about getting the work done, but getting it done well. When it comes to such basic services required to keep your business up and running.  Keep these pointers in mind when looking for a suitable service provider:

  • Look for yellow-page listings and online/offline review

Check for approvals and proper licensing of the company you may be considering. Companies with proper listing are bound to be more trustworthy and will do a good job.

  • Look for establishments that have been around for a while

The credibility and trust in a company depends on the years of experience behind it. The reputation they have gained through years of satisfactory services. However, there may be a few exceptions of technologically advanced newcomers.

  • Look for the Big names in the business

Though, they may be slightly more expensive, they offer a wide range of services like: Installation of water savers, waterproofing, laying pipelines for the sewage/plumbing system, replacing toilets, Repair and fixing of fixtures like shower heads, screens, faucets, etc.

  • Look for convenience

There are many service providers, who are now available 24 X 7 and have a response window as small as 60 minutes to deal with emergencies.

  • Look for One Point Contact

Choose a company that deals with varied supporting services such as, gas fitting, air-conditioning, boilers, Heating systems, fire-sprinklers, etc. Getting most of your work done under one roof removes the need to chase five different people for different aspects of plumbing requirements.

  • Look for Support

Service providers that offer regular plumbing checks and maintenance contracts are always a good option. They help minimize losses at the times of emergencies. Some companies also provide advice on the types and brands of plumbing equipment to invest in to give better performance.

This may sound like a little too much for something as small as a plumbing job, but getting right Commercial Plumbing services is apt with the saying ‘A stitch in time saves nine!’

Tips To Follow Before Bathroom Renovations

Rona Regan

Tips to follow before Bathroom Renovations

A bathroom is considered as a space which freshens you up. It is thus important to ensure that your bathroom has all things you need to charge you up.  A drab and dull bathroom can play ‘spoil-sport’ to the total look of your home and could ruin your mood. Before you dive head-on to renovate your bathroom, it is wise to consider specific points. Think of planning a bathroom of your dreams by giving this renovation enough of thought and a little effort. In case you are ready to spend a bit more, you should think of taking the help of professional designer.

These tips can help you with bathroom renovation:

Budget Considered

Keeping your budget in mind can be of a great help. You can choose the fixtures per this. Make sure you include the cost of labor when fixing your budget. There are multiple designs in bathroom renovations and choosing one in accordance to a fixed budget is advisable. By doing so, you can avoid over-spending.

Modifications Required

Decide whether you are looking for a total renovation or are you interested in specific modifications. This can include changing the tub or the fixtures or only get the bathroom painted, or even changing the tiles. A small change here and there can make a lot of difference to this space. You can get a rough idea by going through the different bathroom design on display online.

Damage Internally

Water leakage and pipes which are cracked or broken can cause a disaster. Get this inspected before you opt for any modification. These hidden problems are most of the time overlooked by most homeowners.

Storage considered

A well-designed bathroom will have enough and more space for storing toiletries. This help in giving the bathroom a neat and tidy look. All your toiletries should be well organized and easily accessible.

Design and Style

The style of a bathroom depends on the choice of the home owner. You can opt for a totally different look as compared to the rest of your house or you can choose a design which complements the home. You can also opt for a traditional look which is unique.

Accessories

Ensure you include the accessories in your budget. It does not make sense to get the whole bathroom renovated and leave the old accessories. This tends to spoil the look you have tried to create.

Lighting

Proper lighting can enhance the remodeled bathroom. Not having enough lighting can cause problems when using this space. Make sure you have enough and more light in that bathroom especially if you have children or elderly people using the bathroom.

Heating system

Placing the water heater in an unobtrusive way needs to be taken into consideration. Water heaters can become an eye sore in an otherwise beautiful bathroom.

Long-Term Arrangement

If you intend staying put in the same house for a long time, make sure to design your bathroom to accommodate the elders who are living with you as well as be of benefit to your growing children, especially to use the commode, step out of the bathing tub, walking independently to and from the bathroom door, etc.

Selecting a Contractor

A contractor who is well reputed and has the required experience needs to be chosen. Take your time and ask around. You can even conduct your search online as there will be numerous information listed about designers and contractors in your locality. Check out the reviews and narrow your choice in accordance with your requirement. Do not overlook the price factor. Compare three or more quotes before you settle for a specific contractor for bathroom renovation.

With the above-mentioned factors, you can, for sure, get the bathroom of your choice, well within your budget.

How To Successfully Link An En Suite Bath And Bedroom

Rona Regan

How to Successfully Link an En Suite Bath and Bedroom

If you are wondering how to make the optimal synergy of bathroom and bedroom, with corresponding colors and ambiance that will make that Feng Shui friend of yours very hard to get rid of, you have come to the right place.

In the following article, you will learn the dos and don’ts of en suite linking and how to turn your vision into reality.

Complementary, but Different

Use the technique of reversing the scheme of the en suite, creating a link between the bedroom and the bathroom. If you have light colors in your bedroom, go for darker tiles in the bathroom with lighter furniture to complement and connect the schemes of the two rooms. Conversely, dark hues in the bedroom correspond with lighter tiles and darker furniture in the bathroom.

Bare the Floor

A great way to add a sense of space to any room is by applying wall-hung fittings to it. Things like vanity units or more modern style designs with shapely legs that will allow you to still see the floor will work perfectly. In order to achieve perfect synergy, equip your bathroom only with furniture that compliments the pieces in your bedroom, by choosing similar finishes and materials.

Design a Smart Storage Solution

Do your best to declutter the space by devoting a bathroom wall to some storage solutions that will free up space and keep all of your essentials nicely packed, leaving the room looking tidy. Also, try implementing various design solutions to create a cozy feel, like displaying decorative items such as shelves, flowers, or figurines.

Use any additional space for storage. For instance, you can put your bathroom essentials in decorative boxes or storage ottomans. Instead of using those stylish shelves to stuff bathroom utensils, put books on them - this will create an intimate feeling and also entice you to catch up on your reading while taking a relaxing bath.

Make Both Rooms Look Bigger

Implementing small changes into the setting, quite literally, can make both rooms seem more spacious and comfortable. The same way you would choose the en suite furniture to match your bedroom furniture, consider making small adjustments to your bedroom as well. Try investing into some DIY shelves and additional storage solutions like decorative boxes, or hanging open nightstands and add a chest at the base of your bed.

Additionally, opting for a bed that perfectly fits your needs will not only accentuate the spaciousness of the room but it will also look amazing. Make sure to invest in a quality mattress that will work wonders for your sleep. And if you don’t have too much space in the sleeping segment and you’ll be the only person using it, deciding on a bed with spacious super single mattress could be a great way to create some additional space and sleep on a bed that perfectly fits your needs.

Combine Complementary Colors

Color coordination is very important if you want to make two rooms feel like two halves of a whole. En suites are often small but practical rooms designed to offer everything a big bathroom does, so in order to make it feel as spacious as possible, you need to introduce lots of light to it.

Try combining a neutral carpet from your bedroom with porcelain floor in the bathroom; also choose styles that are similar both in tone and color. A good, waterproof floor in the bathroom directly complements a soft, fuzzy carpet in the bedroom.

Choose the Right Finishes

Choosing the right finishes can be a bit tricky and if not done correctly, it can ruin the entire concept of the room. Try to use complementary, yet different upholstery, colors, tiles, fabrics and patterns in order to let the rooms speak their own story but give a feeling that they absolutely need each other. If you do the opposite, the rooms will look forced and distasteful.

Finally, details are the ones that can make or break your overall design. Use an accent color from your bedroom, and implement it in your bathroom through shelves, blinds and other accessories.

When you think about it, designing and successfully linking your bedroom with your en suite can be fun. By following these tips and tricks, you won’t go wrong.

Remodel Smart: How To Save Money On Remodeling

Rona Regan

Remodel Smart: How to Save Money on Remodeling

Even if they consider every little detail, people still usually spend about 20 percent more money on remodeling than they originally planned. Remodeling can be full of little surprises, misunderstandings and a lot of stress, and it’s next to impossible to stay on the budget. Still, there are some ways you can save money and spare your budget by simply being smart, resourceful and unafraid to get your hands dirty.

DIY - Demolish It Yourself

If you feel like you can demolish your front porch or pool deck yourself we say go for it, but leave the interior of the house to the professionals. You can unintentionally knock down the bearing wall, or even hit a live wire or plumbing. Still, you can do some of the demolishing yourself and save up to a thousand dollars you can later spend on remodeling. But remember, safety first!

Think Long-Term

When remodeling, don’t look at the price tag that’s on the item, but think about its price at the end of the project. Sometimes it’s cheaper to get a finished product that you can simply install, then to start from scratch. It might seem cheaper to DIY something, but when you add up all the costs, it ends up being more expensive, plus you wasted your time. Also, think about installing energy-efficient appliances and lighting, insulate your doors and windows, and you will save money in the long run.

Get a Trailer

Don’t pay companies to bring materials to you when you want to do a DIY project, but pick them up yourself. Use a pickup truck or get a used single-axle utility trailer for about 300-400 bucks. If you repeat the trip 5-6 times, the trailer will pay for itself. Plus you get to keep or resell the trailer.

Get Supplies at Auctions

At auctions, you can find all sorts of things, but don’t get distracted and focus on supplies. You can find many good scores like custom items someone didn’t like, concrete building blocks, overstock supplies, scratched and dented items and so on.  The amount of money you will save here depends on the other bidders, but it’s usually not an insignificant sum. Think good and hard whether you can find a use for an item you’re bidding for. If the answer is no, stop bidding - otherwise you’re wasting money.

Do it Off Season

It is best to save up money, and wait for winter to do your remodel. The thing is that people are usually short on money in this period because of holidays, so the demand for various contractors is significantly lower. If you want to do a roof restoration however, the best time is during spring. During winter, the demand for this type of service is huge, and so are the prices. Then again, if you plan everything right, you can save a significant sum.

Know What to Keep

If it is possible in any way, try not to change the position of your bathroom or windows. Depending on where you plumbing is costs can vary a lot. When it comes to windows, try to keep them the same size as well. Also, think about insulating your windows to save money on your electricity bill and reduce sound pollution.

If you follow these smart remodeling tips, you will not end up with a drained budget half way into your project. You just need to make some strategic moves and remember that every dollar counts. Remember, if you do things right, you might even save up enough money for a nice vacation.

Simple Care For Your Dishwasher

Rona Regan

Simple Care For Your Dishwasher

Fortunately, the majority of dishwasher hitches are avoidable with correct usage and proper maintenance.

The modern life conveniences in our homes today make life easy and save us a lot of time and labor. The dishwasher is among the precious appliances that make kitchen chores very easy. Additionally, it uses less water and less water heater energy as compared to washing dishes by hands.

However, you will notice that your dishwasher loses its cleaning efficiency or start to develop an odor over time. Your personal efficiency can also reduce when your dishwasher goes on a fritz or fails to deliver performance as it used to. Fortunately, the majority of dishwasher hitches are avoidable with correct usage and proper maintenance. Therefore it is crucial to care for your dishwasher and keep it in good running condition.

Here are some simple care tips that will ensure your dishwasher performs efficiently.

1) Scrape Food Off Before Loading

Dishwashers do not need you to rinse the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. However, they require that you scrap the food off using a rubber food scrapper. Removing the big chunks from the dishes prevents clogs once the cycle is over, increases efficiency and increases the service life of your dishwasher.

2) Avoid Overcrowding

Do not be tempted to layer in one more plate or bowl to avoid hand washing. Overcrowding the dishwasher can reduce its efficiency, and you may end up with less that clean dishes. Always remember that cookie sheets, big bowls, and other large items frequently block the spray of water from the arms hence preventing the flow of water from properly cleaning other items.

3) Clean Filters or Screens

Every dishwasher brand and model has a filter or screen designed to trap food waste. Remove the filter or screen, soak it in hot water, dish soap it, scrub it gently and rinse it to remove food residue. This prevents clogs and food wastes that have been trapped in the screen or filter from getting back on your dishes.

4) Ensure to Level Your Dishwasher

The appliance needs to be even on the ground to run efficiently and prevent leaks. Place a bubble level in the dishwasher to check that your dishwasher is level. If the washer isn’t level, adjust the legs or add a wedge to ensure it is properly leveled.

5) Clean the Sprayer Arm

The sprayer arm in the dishwasher sprays streams of hot water to the dishes, giving them a thorough cleaning. Over time, food deposits and other debris can clog the sprayer arm. It is important to occasionally clean these holes to enable the washer clean dishes more efficiently.

When cleaning the sprayer, remove it and soak it in warm vinegar for some hours to loosen the clog. Clean the sprayer with warm water and detergent and then wipe it down with a damp towel. It is however recommended to refer to the manufacturer’s manual for detailed instruction on how to remove and clean the sprayer.

6) Clean the Seals and Door

Washers have seals around the door rim to prevent the appliance from leaking while operating. Over time, food gets stuck on the door rims and can cause the seals to deteriorate, making the dishwasher leak. Regularly wipe down the door and rubber seals with a damp cloth, to avoid buildup of grime.

7) Do Not Use Hard Water

Do glasses and silverware emerge from your washer spotted and cloudy? Or do you notice whitish crust on your washer’s heating component? If yes, the problem could be as a result of using hard water. Hard water has a high level of magnesium, calcium and other minerals. These amounts of minerals can lead to rust, causing poor performance or even failure of some expensive parts like heating components and pumps.

If you use hard water, you may need to install a water softener to help your dishwasher work at its best.

8) Fight Mold and Mildew

It is normal for mold and mildew to develop in a dishwasher. Fortunately, it is easy to get rid of this problem. Run an empty wash cycle with two cups of apple cider or white vinegar or use liquid chlorine bleach. Run another empty cycle to ensure the bleach or vinegar is completely rinsed out of the dishwasher.

Observing these simple tips can make your dishwasher more efficient and prolong its service life. In case you encounter a serious problem, be sure to get help from your local plumbing experts.

So now you can hire some professional plumber according to your budget and always check their insurance papers. If there are any damage or accident occurring during the repairing and installation process, then you would not need to pay any additional cost, the insurance company will bear this charges.
